This stunning vellum manuscript leaf originates from a large-format liturgical choir book—most likely an antiphonary or gradual—used in monastic or cathedral worship during the early 16th century. Written in a beautifully rounded Gothic Rotunda script, the text is executed in bold black ink with striking red and blue Lombard initials that guided singers through the liturgy.

The text features verses from Psalm 88 (89 in modern numbering), including the famous line: “Misericordias Domini in aeternum cantabo” (“The mercies of the Lord I will sing forever”). Such Psalms were integral to the daily Divine Office and were chanted communally by monastic choirs.

Expertly scribed on high-quality vellum, this leaf remains in excellent condition for its age, with crisp lettering, vibrant initials, and minimal wear. Its impressive size and legibility reflect its original purpose: to be read aloud by a group of singers standing at a distance.
