***SOLD*** Illuminated Bible Manuscript - Early 12th Century C. 1125 - Judges 18

This amazing manuscript contains Judges 18 which talks about Canaan as a promised land - Israel as God's promise of salvation in a Bible of the High Middle Ages.

Biblia romana. Fragment of a Latin Bible manuscript on parchment.

Size: 22.8 x 13.8 cm. With rubrications.

This was produced in Italy during the early 12th century.

A Latin portion reads: “Intrabimus ad securos in regionem latissimam tradetque nobis Dominus locum in quo nullius rei est penuria eorum quae giguntur in terra"

In the book Judges 18:10, ("When you come, you will come to a secure people, and the land is far and wide; for God has given it into your hands, such a place, where nothing breaks down to all that is on earth.)

This is a beautiful fragment of a Bible manuscript from the High Middle Ages in a very clean, unbound Carolingian minuscule script with red capital fillings.

Cover wapping with appropriate clippings, browning, but only tiny color and ink abrasion, usually very easy to read. - Origin: Maggs Brothers 1987. The Marvin L. Colker Collection, London.
