This authentic medieval manuscript leaf was handwritten on vellum during the late Middle Ages, likely in the 14th or early 15th century. Executed in a bold Gothic textura script with alternating red and blue lombard initials, the leaf contains portions of the Latin Psalms as preserved in the Vulgate tradition.
One side preserves text from Psalm 26 (27), including the well-known verse:
“Exaltare Domine in virtute tua; cantabimus et psallemus virtutes tuas”
(“Be exalted, O Lord, in Your strength; we will sing and praise Your power.”)
The reverse contains text from Psalm 93 (94), a psalm calling upon God as the righteous Judge who sees injustice and defends His people.
Written on genuine animal vellum, the manuscript displays the craftsmanship of medieval scribes through its carefully ruled text block, elegant Gothic letterforms, and decorative initials highlighted in red and blue. The substantial size of the leaf suggests it originated from a large Psalter or liturgical manuscript intended for communal reading.
